Dissatisfied Customer.

The Workers were superb. My concern is my roof.may be top of the line, but I wanted quality and appearance.Curb appeal is important. My prior roof was more architecturally appealing. This was said several times to our Salesman. Apparently there is one that was probably what I was looking for, but not offered. The shingles are on back order. This was not offered and I feel because he wanted to close the sale. Maybe not, but had called my Husband several times. My Husband is also in sales, so I know what that is about. I am a Nurse and its about the Pt Bottom line, I dont like my quality roof.

Poorly supervised careless work, poor customer service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Findlay Roofing replaced our roof on April 10, 2020. A crew of about 7 none of whom were English-proficient unless there was someone who remained uncommunicative began work without even knocking on the door to alert us to their presence. During the entire day, only one worker communicated with us (twice) and only via gestures once to plug in a heavy-duty extension cord inside the house and once to unplug it. There was no on-site supervisor, before, during, or after the job, that was identified as such. There was no final walk-through with us as stated in the contract; in fact, the crew left without even letting us know they were leaving. For days afterward, and as late as May 25, we were finding loose nails and tarpaper in our yard. A piece of tarpaper was also found behind our cooktop vent. We found bags of nails in the attic vent after their departure. This carelessness with debris does not bode well in a household with animals (which they could not have failed to be aware of) and a residential neighborhood with a fair number of children, especially for a company whose website boasts, We protect your yard, and your family, as if it were our own. Debris is possibly the cause too of some bumps under the new shingles. We had to call and request an inspection after the job was completed. Our concern about debris in the yard was addressed only by the inspector removing some of the debris from underneath the gutter; he also repaired one of the loose gutters. He did not issue an apology (which would have gone a long way toward good will) nor even exhibit surprise. Payment status is not an issue; we paid for the job in full 4 days after it was completed, per their invoice sent to us via e-mail on April 10 stating they require payment in full upon completion. The only reason it wasn't paid ON April 10 is because the day before, they called to move the project up a week and we had not moved the funds yet. Our questions and concerns could have been addressed had there been project supervision (English-speaking), had someone contacted us as a follow-up courtesy, or had we been treated more respectfully afterward. We wrote a letter to the owner, Mr. Steve Findlay, on May 4, listing our concerns. As of this date, June 2, that letter has not been answered nor have we been contacted in any way by anyone about it. Findlays advertising brags of its customer service and reputation. In an e-mail requesting we review their company and the job on our house, we find the comment that customer satisfaction is our number one priority. We have found their inflated claims to be sorely inaccurate in our case and would never refer them to anyone we know. They also said in the e-mail that our review would mean the world to them. So here is our review.

JON SABO & MATT CHENEY - ROOF ROOF in SC, We are also pissed consumers. Same here on the non English speaking crew.

We could not communicate with any of the workers and only one said "no leaks, no leaks". Well since our roof was installed by 6-7 unqualified workers we have had several problems with leaking. It was all POOR Craftsmanship. They were all under about 23 years old with no previous experience as far as we could tell.

They also left here with incomplete finalization to the roof and we had to have Matt Cheney come out to finish the job. About one year later we had our 1st big leak in the laundry room. Then our master bedroom leak and then leaking around the fireplace. We our totally pissed off and would not recommend this company to anyone.

Roof Roof gave estimate but we paid Findlay Roofing $5,000 and we are still having leaking. They do not respond to emails. They IGNORE any complaint.

They have repaired the above complaints but we have let them know we have buckled shingles on the NE corner which they refuse to fix and also we reported water damages on our newly painted ceilings after the roofing - they said they would mention this to management, but NO ONE HAS CONTACTED US since 2/25/2021. Also, when it rains we have water marks running from the ridge point about 6-8 inches wide running down the trusses and this has also been reported with no response.

Excellent service great looking roof

Our re-roofing experience was excellent. Our rep Chris came out, looked at our roof told me what to expect. He met our insurance adjuster and everything went as they told me it would. The crew arrived on time, and in one day we had a new roof and the cleanup was wonderful. I highly recommend them. We have what adjuster said is a high, steep and large roof. Findley also reminded us to ask for the drip edge reimbursemI would not hesitate to us them again . ent, saving us another $700.00 + dollars.

Disrespectful treatment by this company

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I looked at reviews before we decided on this company, and I frankly don't know who is writing these reviews or perhaps this company finds itself suddenly in some type of trouble. However, this is one of the worse companies I have worked with. Our initial contact was with the salesman and, of course, the salesman came out on time - he wants to sell!! From that point on it went downhill. They did not appear on the day designated to take measurements. They came the next day late. Our actual roofing repair was scheduled today and no one showed up. We called the office only to be told they couldn't find the person we were to talk with. He later called and asked if they could come next Monday. We promptly said that we were no longer interested in working with this company. Perhaps they do an adequate job at roof repair, but their customer service is the poorest I have experienced, and we live in an old home that has necessitated many repairs through the 40 years we have lived in it. Please avoid this company. There are too many other good roofing companies in Atlanta with excellent customer service. Let's support those companies!!

Not overly impressed

was expecting a lot but really never got it---roof looks ok--nothing spectacular-----several issues with roof install and fascia install--overall not a super quality job like i expected---cleanup was lackluster---thank god i was home during the install to really see what was happening------2 days to touch up paint where side of house had been scraped by falling debris---they were not very careful----drip edge was a whole another story---sales guy said he would swing by and check on progress but never showed his face---but they sure wanted their money 5 mins after they were done---im still trying to get some items resolved--hopefully i can in next few weeks---most everyone when they can be reached are pleasant enough on phone----can't say at this point if i could ever recommend them but i guess time will tell

Clean up aftter job

Had pointing done beginning of March, pleased with actual job but block paved drive left in an awful mess. After phone calls when staff say "someone will ring you back " ---- they don't . After 3 weeks a man did turn up to clean the drive, it looked ok as he left but it was still wet, but when it dried it was only marginally better . A few days later a man turned up and asked it everything was ok ---I told him no and pointed to my drive, he then said he would get Charlie to phone me. Needless to say he didn't ring, and the drive is still a mess.

Findlay Roofing will not stand behind their work

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Findlay Roofing was hired to repair several minor leaks when we purchased our home last summer 2014. Immediately upon moving in, we noticed that the roof where they had done the work was still leaking. After several attempts to contact them they finally sent someone out to look at the roof and told us that the problem was with skylights. They offered to replace the roof over the sun-room, but refused to do the work unless we paid around $2000 additional to have them replace the skylights, even though the water spots clearly were not from the skylights. After several more back and forth attempts at communication where they either didn't respond at all or took weeks to respond, they finally sent someone out to do a water test, which ended up proving that as we said the skylights were not leaking and that in fact the source of the leak was another part of the roof. We asked them to provide a statement for what they would or would not cover to make good on the original work, and the technician said they would and would get back to us. After not hearing anything for nearly two weeks, we contacted the office manager, Marcella Radtke, who blamed the problem on some flashing and told us that not only were they going to not fix the leak, but that they would not do any work for us in the future. This back and forth went on for more than 6 months total and the excuses, deceptions and unprofessional treatment are some of the worst I’ve ever experienced as a homeowner. Bottom line, Findlay Roofing mis-diagnosed the original leak, then blamed the problem on non-related part of the roof (which was later verified by their own people), then blamed it on flashing that they should have fixed in the first place. Findlay Roofing will not stand behind their work and will “fire” you as a customer if you try to hold them accountable. I see from the other reviews that they have a lot of positives, but if you read those, the homeowners didn't have major issues with the work – if you use them, hope that all goes well in the initial repair, because they will not make it right if they make major mistakes.

Stay away from Findlay Roofing!

The sales staff and customer service couldn't get their acts together. Shingles not what I was promised they would look like. Singles look cheap, even though I paid extra to get architectural shingles. Overall NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER!!!!! They did two other houses in our neighborhood that I know of(my house and these other two are the only ones that don't have the normal architectural shingles look) They all look cheap. When I called to complain they basically hung up on me and told me it was my fault for picking the wrong shingle. I PICKED WHAT THEY TOLD ME TO PICK!

We were lied to, and hustled by Findlay Roofing

We posted the following on Kudzu.com, to only have Kudzu tell us they deleted it, with no explanation. We speculate that Findlay Roofing is a paid advertiser to Kudzu, and we believe Kudzu deleted the post below because the comapny knew they were in the wrong and have no way to defend themselves. We called the comapny and asked to speak to the manager, Bryan Gwynn. After being put oh hold the secind time for five minutes, we were told he was busy... Obviously, he and his company are doing some things that are suspiscious, why would he not take a call from a customer who paid in full? Here is the post to Kudzu that Kudzu deleted. It was the second post review as they deleted the first one too. We believe potential customers out to know the truth. "Gwinnett - We were badly misled by the salesmen that came out. We had several other quotes. We based our decision on the salesman's statements - we hired Findlay Roofing. When we called the manager, Bryan Gwynn, they said he was too busy. The salesman intentionally lied to us to ge our business. One, we asked if the workers were employees and legal residents. This turned out to not be true. Findlay Roofing put my husband and I, and our property at risk. We learned from the workers theta they were not legal, nor employees. Additionally, we learned from the office that none of the roofers were employees, but subcontractors - we are very disappointed. Two, we were told directly by the salesmen that we would not be out of pocket, as Findlay Roofing would "eat the deductible", "no problem" he said. This braought Findlay Roofing price in line with a couple other quotes. Turns out after we our roof replaced, Findlay would not "cover" or "eat" the deductible, as we weretold when we recieved the invoice, and the phone call. we selected Findlay because of the price, but later learned we were grossly misled, and wound up paying over $1,000 more, on top of a few other things they claimed they had to do. Three. imagine our surprise when we recieved the invoice and their were taxes applied. We were told by the salesman, in writing, by contract, the price was "all inclusive", later they tried to explain it to us that this was local tax, which also was not true." As you can see there is something very shady about this company, and as we are doing our homework, we are learning that this comapny is very questionable, and somehow gets companies like Kudzu to remove them. Also, we found it interesting that Findlay Roofing avoided our call, and avoided our concerns and questions all together. We now believe we know why there is definitely something wrong going on. By the way, we noticed that Kudzu deleted other negative comments about Findlay Roofing after we complained and after our review was removed. Smells fishy!!!! Pissed in Gwinnett

I hired Findlay Roofing to repair a water leak in my living room because they said it would be guaranteed. There is still a leak ruining my ceiling and wall.

I complained and they came out and said the flashing they installed was correct. I did not hire them to install flashing or whatever, I hired them to fix the leak. Their response was and additional estimate for $1,600 and would not guarantee the leak would be fixed.

I tried to comprise with them to get the leak fixed. The operations manager, Marcella Radtke, then sent me an email withdrawing the estimate and said that they were parting ways with me.

My family snd I own a small butt well known roofing company in ga. I can say I have been back multiple times on Findlay roofing projects for them not standing by warranties or improper workmenship. And this inst the first time I have heard this small local family own businesses best way to go deal with the owners not just a salesman.

Wow, it is almost as if I had written this complaint myself. It is EXACTLY like my experience in EVERY way.

This company (Findley Roofing is a rip-off). I wish I had done more investigating before I signed with them.

Everything this other person experienced was exactly what happened to me! This company needs to close it doors or get its act together!  After reading all the complaints and bad reviews I could kick myself for going with them.

You didn't get the roof you paid for?

Guest

Findlay is a competitor of mine but I know them to be a decent business. Your experience is common with many who have storm damage.

While I don't agree with the law, the fact is that it is a felony for anyone to offer to pay your deductible in any way (credits, coupons, etc.). It's also illegal for you to have your deductible paid by anyone else. The dirty secret is that 99% of all residential roofing companies use subcontractors for insurance reasons.

As long as the sub has valid liability insurance then your property will be fine. You'll just have to trust me that you would not want a non-Hispanic (mostly illegal aliens) doing your roof.

The only white people installing roofs are drug addicts, alcoholics and felons. ie -- People without other employment opportunities.

There's also not a single roofer in Atlanta using W2 employees to install a roof. Any company that says otherwise is lying.

kudzu.com is a nasty site. They favor the companies and not the customers.

Even if you state facts as they are and can prove that the company did wrong, they remove the review if the company calls and threatens them.

The whole point of writing reviews is to make others aware that there is a bad business out there. Review sites such as kudzu.com is a disservice to public and should not exist.

Couldn't agree more. I'm a competitor of Findlay's in Atlanta and I monitor their reviews (and other companies) closely.

7 out of 20 total reviews this year were negative, yet they receive a "Best of 2013" award.

Not to mention another negative review was mysteriously removed. Kudzu has no credibility in my personal opinion.

You must be pretty busy putting roofs on to do all that monitoring.

Good, bad and ugly...

make it easy for you. 7 out of 20? Maybe on Kudzu where competitors are allowed to write bad reviews.

97% likely to recommend and that's every.
